Updates Regarding COVID-19

May 26, 2020

Patients of Sheets Family Dentistry,

We hope this email finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing at Sheets Family Dentistry has remained the same: our constant commitment to your safety. As you have surely seen during your visits to our office, infection control has always been a top priority for our practice. Our strict processes have consistently made the care you receive at Sheets Family Dentistry both safe and comfortable.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We continue to closely monitor the recommendations of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. With additional training, we are prepared for compliance and utilization of the new guidelines.

With your safety as our priority, we are beginning elective treatment starting June 1, 2020.  However, please pay special attention to appointment times, as we may need to adjust or change appointments that were scheduled for the next several weeks in order to accommodate for urgent patient matters. We will reach out to you if any adjustments need to be made regarding an existing appointment.  If an appointment was cancelled by the pandemic, we will begin rescheduling as soon as possible.  We will use phone calls, text, and email to inform you and keep you updated.  If you are having a more urgent concern, please call the office and we will do our best to help you.  When it is time for your next appointment, you may see some changes along with our already strict infection control protocols. For example:

  • Our office will communicate with you before your appointment to ask screening questions. You will be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.

  • We are asking all patients to bring their own face mask to help preserve our PPE supplies. However, if you do not have one, we will gladly supply you with one.

  • When entering the office, we will ask you to use hand sanitizer, which we will supply. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed. We will also be recording temperature upon arrival to ensure that you are not symptomatic.

  • Please wait in your car and text (517) 300-6383 or call (517) 787-6776 when you arrive. We will notify you when we are ready to bring you directly to the treatment area.

  • You may see that our reception area will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and other items which cannot be properly disinfected. The chairs will be spaced to promote social distancing and we encourage you to bring your own iPad, reading materials, etc.

  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you are offered slightly limited options for scheduling your appointment.

  • We will do our best to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the office at any one time.

  • We have upgraded our HVAC that promotes more airflow along with HEPA filtration and UV-C protection that may make the office temperature feel cooler than usual, please feel free to bring a jacket if you wish.

  • We are utilizing a paperless format to help complete health history updates, patient information, and treatment consent forms to enable us to sanitize after each use.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at 517-787-6776 or visit our website at, to request one.
Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors, and friends in the safest way possible.
