Sheets Family Dentistry Patients,

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agency’s recommendations.

You may notice some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:

  • Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.

  • We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.

  • You may see that our waiting room will have fewer chairs to maintain social distancing, no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment, however, we will be offering extended times and Fridays to help with the schedule for your convenience.

  • We will do our best to allow for more time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. We will announce when we will be appointing. If you are in need of an appointment, please call our office at (517) 787-6776 or visit our website at www.sheetsdentistry.com/contact to request an appointment and we will contact you as soon as possible.

Our anticipated reopening date is tentatively June 1, 2020, unless the governor makes any further changes.  We deeply thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends.

Sincerely,

Sheets Family Dentistry
John A. Sheets, DDS and his Team!

Update: April 28, 2020

Dear Patients, Family, and Friends at Sheets Family Dentistry,

After five weeks of self-quarantine, we are realizing how the impact of the COVID-19 virus is affecting every one of us. It’s changed how we greet friends and we’ve learned about zooming in on family events, just to make sure everyone is doing okay.  Within all of these changes, everyone now wants to know when we'll be back to "normal”.

I wish we could talk with each one of you who did have an appointment during this time we've been closed, but trying to reschedule wouldn't be appropriate when our opening date has not been determined.  As of right now, by Governor Whitmer's order, we are closed until May 15, 2020. This means the earliest we will be able to see patients would be Monday, May 18th.   We are monitoring when the plan will be announced for re-opening businesses throughout the state.  From what we are hearing, it will be phased back in stages.

When we do return, we will be doing several things to help get everyone scheduled/rescheduled.  We will begin with a triage of all of the patients who were scheduled during the closing.  We have a number of patients who have had emergencies while we were closed. We addressed some of them, but patients who were placed on antibiotics will be given a priority to be seen soon after we return.  Please be patient while we are reassembling our appointment book.  Be assured we will consider adding hours and days to help address all of your needs.

At Sheets Family Dentistry we still are limiting our care to stabilization of current patients; seeing those who have an urgent need or emergency appointments.  If you are a patient with an urgent need, please call (517) 787-6776, to leave a message or access the emergency phone number. We will be available and will help access urgent care during this time.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we move forward in the way we feel we can best serve our community and patients while protecting our ability to continue to provide the important dental care for patients in need. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this will cause and look forward to tending to your needs as timely as possible.

Sincerely,

John A Sheets DDS and the Sheets Family Dentistry Team
